With the blessings of Sant Baba Harbans Singh Dumeli wale and the determination of Prof. Amar Singh, Prof. Amar Singh started AMAR SANGEET KALA KENDER U.K. with 50 students.
Prof. Amar Singh is the first person to get Traditional Asian Music award as fully recognized GNVQ AND A- LEVEL degree course in the U.K. It was firstly introduced by Sandwell college and Handsworth college, Birmingham.
Initially Amar Sangeet Kala Kender focused to teach local pupil and later started enrolling students all over UK, but now with the hard work and determination of promoting music, Amar Sangeet Kala Kender has gone global with over 2000 students from U.K., France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Italy, U.S., Canada, India, Malaysia and Australia.
The academy has opened a branch in Batala, Punjab, India for people who cannot afford to learn music at established institutes. We are providing free teachings of music and also involved in many other charity works in Punjab region.
The academy has held many workshops worldwide and with the hard work of the members and students they have been very successful.
The academy has previously affiliated with PRACHEEN KALA KENDRA and Pt. Ram Sahai Sangeet Vidhyalaya. The academy will soon getting affiliation with Punjabi University, Patiala.
The academy has had the pleasure to hold many events in U.K. and India with famous artistes such as; Ustad Tari Khan (Tabla), Narinder Narula ji (Sitar), Vishma Mohan Bhatt ji (Guitar), Ustad Aashish Khan (Sarod), Sugandha Sharma (vocal), Sunandha Mishra (Vocal), Ustad Kala Ram (Tabla), Sushil Jain (Tabla), B.S.Narang (Vocal), Pt. Budhaditya Mukherjee (Sitar), Rimpa Siva (Tabla), Ustad Sharafat Ali (Vocal), Late Pavan Kumar Verma (Tabla), Hussain Bux (Vocal), Wadali Brothers and many more.
The academy teaches all kinds of music from around the world including Gurbani Kirtan where the academy has held many religious Kirtan events around the globe. The academy is also introducing yoga, English, Punjabi and Hindi classes and many others in the future.
Prof. Amar Singh is a complete institute in itself. He devoted his life to people irrespective of their cast, creed, religion and region. He has worked hard to build this academy and to take it to this level and has left no stone unturned to promote music for people in U.K.
For the hard work of Prof. Amar Singh many awards have been conferred to him such as the former Prime Minister Tony Blair awarded Prof. Amar Singh in 1999 for his work, The Birmingham council and the Indian Government and many more.
Prof. Amar Singh is also a member of the oldest festival of Indian Classical Music in the world Shree Baba Harballabh Sangeet Sammelan. In December 2007 Amar Sangeet Kala Kender had sponsored the Samelan and Prof. Amar Singh was honoured by hon'ble Chief Minister of Punjab Parkash Singh Badal for promotion of music and undertaking charity work.
